FRANCE
République Francaise - Emprunt d'État 1982, 16,2%,  2000 F, Paris 8-1-1982, beautifully drawn woman's head (see picture) by Jean Cocteau , EF, but some tiny staple holes,  84 Euro.
The Parisian Jean Cocteau (1889 -1963) was the first true multi-media artist. He was not only well known as a film director (e.g. in 1946 La Belle et Le Bête = The Beauty and The Beast, after Madame Le Prince de Beaumont's book in 1757), but is also widely known in poetry, fiction, ballet, opera, painting and illustration. Stadt Frankfurt am Main
5% Anleihe, 1918, Schuldverschreibung 1000 Mark, red German and orange Dutch tax stamp, size 24,5 by 37 cm; white embossed seal; small vignette of 2 cherubs holding a coat of arms; blue-black decorative border.
---------- condition VF-: several minor border defects, paperclip rust trace in border, 2 folds and borders have brown stain; but no serious defects, 50 Euro.
---------- condition F: many border defects, maximal 2 cm tears, sellotape rests in corners, 10 Euro.



GREECE
Kingdom of Greece / Basileion tes Ellados
6,5% loan, 1922; certificate of 1 bond of 100 Drachmes; print: Bradbury Wilkinson & Co., U.K.; blue print, 1 coupon still attached, see picture of  front and backside, The frontside shows a crowned coat of arms, flanked by 2 men with a club, probably Hercules. The backside shows a 6 by 4 cm statue of Nike, the goddess of Victory (daughter of Styx, who was a daughter of the Titan Oceanus). The famous American sport shoe company NIKE, was named after this goddess; The statue depicted on the back is a replica of the famous sculpture of Nike made in 421 B.C. by the Greek sculptor Paionios. As can be seen on this photograph, the original sculpture is badly damaged, but the (very small) replica that is depicted on this bond can be seen in the right lower corner of the photo. The goddess is landing on a triangular pillar: the rucks of her cloths suggest the speed with which she lands. (source: Zadoks, 1954, p. 65), condition VF-EF, 25 Euro.

HUNGARY
Kingdom of Hungary, 4% bond of 500 kronen, 1892, price 3 Euro.
It is a very worn piece, with tears in the folds and little holes and stains; so it is condition F or worse. Colour: green, with black border drawings. In top border 2 angels with a coat of arms. In left upper part: 1 black and 1 red tax stamp from Antwerp, Belgium. In bottom: very large blue stamp of 1927 from Belgian Kingdom: referring to the treaty of Trianon. Serial nr. 000.966 Text from top to bottom: A MAGYAR KORONA ORSZAGAI 4%-kal kamatozo JARADEKKOLCSON Kibocsttalott az 1892 evi XXI torv.-czikk alapjan ALLAMADOSSAGI KOTVENY 500 koronaroi A magyar kir: penzugyministerium elismeri, hogy ezen OTSZAZ KCRONAROL

3,5% bond fl.1000, with 3,5 x 4,5 cm. engraving of the famous Dutch painter Rembrandt van Rijn (1606-1669), with facsimile signature of the infamous mr. Rost van Tonningen as acting secretary general of the Finance Department in World War II. Issued in Deventer (O) in 1943; print Lankhout, The Hague; condition UNC: print fresh with loose coupons. Blue border. Price € 150.

City of Jersey City
city hospital bond, green, 1935, due 1943, large size, engraving of crest of arms with sail ship and steam ship, price 25 Euro.
Jersey City was consolidated with Bergen and Hudson City in 1869; the town of Greenville was added in 1873. The city's industrial growth began in the 1840s with the arrival of the railroad and the improvement of its water transport system.The city has benefited from its position across from the island of Manhattan, and many Jersey City companies are extensions of those originating in New York City. Confederate States of America Loans
Deutsch:
Die Anleihen der Konföderierten Staaten von Amerika, ausgegeben zur Finanzierung des Sezessionskrieges mit den Nordstaaten, sind ein abgeschlossenes Sammelgebied und hervorragend katalogiesiert. Bis heute  hat kein Anleger aus Europa sein damals investiertes Geld wiedergesehen. Da das amerikanische Recht keine Verjährungsfristen kennt, wird  über eventuelle Rückzahlungsansprüche, insbesondere der "Mississippi Bonds",  übrigens nach über 150 Jahren noch heute vor US-Gerichten prozessiert ! Richmond, March 2nd 1863, no 16457, 7 coupons left; on the back side a Dutch stamp: "Bet stempel zichtbaar bevonden, Amsterdam 18 April 1865; het algemeen beurscomite voor publieke fondsen", very nice condition, upper border 3,7 cm, left 2,1 cm, right 2,2 cm, 128 Euro.

Ball no. 208 = not listed in Criswell, but alike no. 125;
loan authorised Febr. 20th 1863, witness whereof March 2nd 1863, black stamp (signed by James Sorley) with text " Issued in Houston, Texas; red tekst "This bond is .....issued", 9 coupons left attached; according to Ball (1998) only ca. 100- 200 pieces with these specific characteristics have been left over from the 800 pieces originally issued. large borders, 285 Euro.

Ball 240 A = Criswell 122 B
"second series" 7% loan, February 20, 1863, second series; in witness whereof......March 2nd 1863; signature of ..... Taylor; this is a counterfeit bond ! nos 2243 and 2233, 7 coupons left, small defect in left border, minor brown stain in right upper corner, further very nice, 75 Euro.

Criswell no. 175 (not listed in Ball); rarity 10 = very rare.
Scrip Certificate for X US $: (handwritten: 10.000 $) issued by the National Safe Deposit Company Ltd. for holding of confederate bonds, London, 1887; measures ca. 22 x 21 cm., one penny red printed tax stamp; condition EF: folds nor tears but a litle brownish on te left upper left; price € 75.
