Compagnie des Installations Maritimes de Bruges, Action privilegie de 500 Fr au porteur (= preferred share to bearer), Bruges 1904, multicolored / veelkleurig, # = 9000.
The tiny shield above the bear can be blue or brown. Brown shields I have seen on series beginning with 1000, 2000, 4000, 5000 and 6000; blue shields on series beginning with 7000 and 8000. Therefore I presume that the colour of the shield changed from brown to blue at a number near 7000, making the shares with blue shields the rarer type of the two.
According to the text on the shares, another 9000 ordinary shares must also have been issued, but I have never come across one of those.

Bruges was a port in the Middle Ages, but the Gulf of Zwijn, giving it access to the sea, silted up and cut it off from the sea.
The company was founded in 1895, with the approval of the Government of Flanders and the city of Bruges, to construct the port installations of Heyst-sur-Mer (today - Zeebrugge) and the inland port of Bruges. It was also required to build a canal, to link the two towns. This Baldwin Canal (Boudewijn kanaal), first planned in 1545, was dug from 1895 to 1907. It was 10 km long, 70m wide and 8m deep. It ran in a straight line across the Flanders plain. The new harbour was inaugurated by King Leopold on July 23rd 1907. The company's concession also gave the right to operate the port installations for a period of 75 years. At the expiry of this period, the term was extended, and the operating company still exists today.
Bruges is nowadays one of the most beautiful and excellently preserved historic cities in Europe.

The company owned an estate of 1000 hectares in the Ikelemba valley and planted rubber, cocoa and coffee. A collapse in rubber prices in 1908/9 appears to have killed the company. Facsimile signature of the Comte de la Barre d'Erquelinnes (Source: Boone, auction catalogue June 1998).

It shows the old sea routes leading south of Greece and the much shorter new sea routes through the Canal. Het betreft een van de vele bergingspogingen om nog meer schatten te bergen uit het Engelse marineschip dat in 1799 voor de kust van Terschelling verging met een lading goud en zilver ter waarde van destijds 1,25 miljoen £. De naam Lutine is Frans voor kwelduivel; het schip was oorspronkelijk een Frans marineschip. De beroemde scheepsbel werd in 1858 geborgen en hangt nu in de Underwriting Room van de verzekeringamaatschappij Lloyds in Londen. De huidige waarde van de ongeborgen schatten wordt geschat tussen de 66 miljoen $ (schatting Lloyds) en de 140 miljoen $ (schatting van de huidige bergers, voorjaar 2000). Het onderhavige aandeel stamt uit de mislukte bergingspoging van 1933-1935 door Frans Beckers, die uitgebreid wordt beschreven op p. 115-117 van het boek "De Lutine" van B. Huiskes en G. de Weerdt (red.), 1999. De aandeelhouders waren uiteindelijk echter wel definitief hun geld kwijt. Het schip bleek weer eens een echte kwelduivel. Zoals op het aandeel gedrukt staat werkte Beckers samen met de concessiehouders uit 1928, De Stoomboot Maatschappij "Texel" en de Scheepvaart Maatschappij G. Doeksen en Zonen te Terschelling.

The Lutine, a 32-gun frigate captured as a price from the French navy in 1793, was carrying about £ 1,25 million in gold and silver bullion bound for Hamburg from Great Yarmouth when it grounded on a sand bar, capsized and sank near the Dutch isle of Terschelling in 1799. Only 1 sailor survived. The vessel's most famous artefact, was recovered in 1858 and is now in the Underwriting Room at Lloyd's in London. The bell is rung on ceremonial occasions at the well known insurers market. Lloyd's paid out £ 1,2 million for the loss of the Lutine in 1799, but the carco remains hidden in the sand are now estimated between $ 66 million (Lloyd's estimate) and $ 140 million (estimate of a Dutch salvage team in 2000). The shares certificates offered here stem from a salvage attempt from 1933- 1935, by Beckers, when a huge 20m high and 12 m diameter iron tower was buillt (twice: the first one collapsed almost immediately !) to give working space for the divers. Alle aandelen zijn uit 1954 en hebben volledig aanhangende coupons, een bruine sierrand op geel veld, oranje bel. stempel, zijn tevens bewijs van lidmaadschap. Afm. ca. 22 bij 35 cm.

Het Duitse schip Renate Leonhardt werd in 1917 op de hoogte van Bergen aan Zee getorpedeerd door een Engelse onderzeeër. Het schip vluchtte de haven van Ijmuiden in en vervolgde na de nodige reparaties haar weg noordwaarts. Ter hoogte van Den Helder werd het schip voor de 2e keer geraakt en zonk ter plaatse. De lading betrof 700 ton cacaoboter en 17.000 kilo goud. Het schip is tot op heden niet geborgen. Bij een succesvolleberging zou 1/3e van de waarde aan de aandeelhouders uitbetaald worden. Dit is ca. 40 maal de nominale waarde, dus voor het aandeel van f 100 ca. f 4000. (Bron: Monen april'99).

Deutsh: Goldschatz ! Das Deutsche Schiff "Renate Leonhardt" wurde 1917 von einem englishen U-boot torpediert und sank mit einer ladung von 17.000 kilo Gold an Bord in der Höhe von Den-Helder in der Norsee. Eine Erfolgreiche Bergung der Ladung würde zu einem Drittel den Aktionären zufliessen, d.h.40 mahl den Nennwert, also für diese Namens-Aktie von f 100 f 4000. see picture

English: The German ship Renate Leonhardt was torpedoed in 1917 by a British submarine. The ship fled into the Dutch harbour of Ijmuiden. It went on further north after the necessary repairs, but was hit a second time and sank near the Dutch city of Den Helder. It carried 700 tuns of cacao butter and 17.000 kilos of gold !. The ship has not been salvaged until now. In case of a succesful salvage 1/3 of the value would go to the share owners, amounting to about 40 times the nominal value, for the share with nominal value of f 100: ca. f 4.000. see picture

English: sub share of 100 Guilders; blue on green paper; The company was formed in 1938, expecting to work with German interests, but the start of WW2 made this difficult, and the company had to look for new business; It gained a "VIGO contract". The underprint of an early ship suggests this was the salvage of a galleon wrecked near Vigo, at the north west corner of Spain. The prospects of salvage at Vigo have brought various expeditions in the past. It seems likely that potentially valuable wrecks date from 1702, when there was a great battle in Vigo harbour. A joint Anglo-Dutch force attacked a rich Spanish treasure fleet, and, although the fleet was protected by a Franco Spanish fleet of about 30 ships, and by forts on land, the Anglo Dutch victory was absolute. The victors recovered silver to the value of about 14.000 Pounds, but a far larger sum - perhaps 3.000.000 Pounds - had already been removed. However, a number of Spanish ships were sunk, and perhaps they held treasure also.

De NV werd opgericht in 1929, maar de firma K. & J. Wilkens werd al in 1823 opgericht.; Lees de historie, inclusief de vroegere rederij- en scheepswerfactiviteiten !; Ze exploiteerden een aardappelmeelfabriek en dextrinefabriek en een handel in bouwmaterialen met houtzagerij / schaverij; zie foto's, Dochterondernemingen waren Glyso (kernolie en kernbindmiddelen) en Wispro (zetmeelderivaten), beide te Veendam.
Het bedrijf is in 1989 samengegaan met Kunst Oberman te Groningen. Samen vormden de bedrijven de "Houtgroep Nederland", die later, in 1996 fuseerde met de Koninklijke houthandel Eecen uit Oudkarspel. Het Schoonerschip Jeanette
Reederij-contract, Wildervank, 7 juli 1864, 4 blzn.
Het vrachtschip (120 ton) was verdeeld in 60 aandelen voor tesamen 13 contractanten. Elk aandeel gaf 1 stem, maar met een maximaal aantal van 8 stemmen per contractant. Iedere contractant moest naar rato van zijn hoeveelheid aandelen bijdragen aan de uitrusting van het schip en deelde naar rato mee in de ev. winsten en verliezen van deze reederij. Het is dus een voorloper van de tegenwoordige scheepvaart CV (Commmanditaire Vennootschap). Het document is een officieel afschrift, met wel de met de hand geschreven namen van de 13 contractanten, maar niet hun handtekeningen, met daarachter hun aandelenaantal. Er staat dan ook: "was getekend". Div. minieme randscheurtjes zijn professioneel gerepareerd met minieme tape. Prijs 495 Euro.

In 490 BC the people of Athens (now the capital of Greece) gained (under leadership of Miltiades) the victory over their enemies, the Persians (under leadership of Datis) in the battle of Marathon, a small site on the north east coast of Attica.
